April 26, 2010 Update
There have been some new developments in relation to the proposed detention center. I still need to verify the validity of the claims, but suffice it to say that it is more evidence for the argument AGAINST the current set of protocol. I think that there is more than meets the eye on this one and myself and a few others are digging deep and we have to make sure that what we have found is valid. Unfortunately from what I have heard from the county commission, they are planning on staying the course they have outlined... Stay tuned.

What am I doing?
I was on the phone earlier today with one of the local elected officials and I was asked What I am doing. I was sort of taken back by this as it is obvious to me what I am doing. Also, I attended a meeting the other night in celebration of 'sunshine week,' and I asked what comprises 'the press/media.' I guess to answer both questions I would like to just say that I am doing what I wish EVERYONE would do. I am asking questions, I am sick and tired of doing NOTHING. I am on a quest for nothing more than the truth. Do I think that I will become some authority on truth? No... All I want is to look my kids in the face after our country has been destroyed by the corrupt politicians and the bankers and tell them that I tried, that I did the best that I could with all I had. I am not a trained journalist. I think that I can spell. I think that I can sort of form sentences. I do not believe that I am the only person out there that wants to do this. With all of the technological advances that we currently have, it is practically free to do this. Now, speaking to what is the press. I am not a reporter. But I know how to ask questions. I think that I would like to have answers to the obvious questions that no one is willing to ask. Since when did we become a people that is afraid to ask for and expect the truth? I think that the fake, phony society that we have become is disgusting. It has spread like a cancer throughout all of our daily lives and we have become lovers of deceit. Now for some honesty on my part... I am not an angel. I am not perfect. I have told lies, just like everyone else has. Maybe this blog is a subconscious attempt of my own to repent and be a better man. Who knows. It is something though. It is better than sitting on my duff and whining and shaking my head in useless disgust. So what AM I doing?

Post County Meeting Thoughts
Two days ago the citizens of Lincoln County made their voices heard in what I would call an unprecedented display of disgust for the potential tyrannical decision by the county commissioners to force a lease/debt on the people. There was not one citizen that stood up to speak that was in favor of the current direction the commissioners have been headed. The commissioners did not have much to say in response to the people other than that they are willing to step back, and rethink this process. My continuing question is, what exactly does that mean? I keep thinking about the private companies that are involved with this debacle. I cannot help but still wonder if they are the ones that truly have the ears of our elected officials. I am severely disappointed that the options that were presented to us all involve debt and interest. How have we as a society been so corrupted to the point that in order for something to be acquired that it must involve paying interest to bankers/brokers? It is my observation that the best representation of THE PEOPLE in this matter would be not only to put it to a vote, but to make for certain that we can first afford a new detention center. I was very proud of the folks that showed up and made their voices heard. I am sure that the county commission was not prepared for the level of awareness and organization of the opposition to this proposed center. There are a few questions though in my mind that still remain. 1)Who is behind this fundamentics company? 2)If there is to be a lease, who are these people we will be leasing from? 3)What other projects has Fundamentics been involved in that are to the scope of what we are dealing with? 4)Can we speak to the recipients of these past projects? 5)What if any is the connection of our elected county officials to Fundamentics? 6)What is the downside to saving up for and OWNING(free and clear), our new suggested facility? The questions go on and on, but these are the main concerns for me at this time.

Tuesday meeting this week with the county.
I am holding my breath until Tuesday night at 7 pm in Afton. I know that to some this issue is really a non-issue. I mean, in terms of what the county NEEDS? I can see that there is an eventual need for a new jail. Are we going about it the right way though? Think about it. In YOUR house, have you not learned from the most recent financial crisis that borrowing money or that putting off the day of reckoning is irresponsible? Are we supposed to just pretend that everything is ok because the federal government has thrown trillions at THE BANKS to keep them afloat, but what about WE THE PEOPLE? I did not get anything other than a notice from these banks that my bill is overdue. The bottom line is this... WE THE PEOPLE are fed up. We are fed up with corruption, we are fed up with lies, and we are fed up with being pushed around by our elected officials after they get into office. They are not elected as monarchs. They are elected as servants. Thomas Jefferson said, "When the people fear the government, there is Tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty." I think that the time has come that we let them know that we have had it, and that we are not going to take it anymore. Please join US on Tuesday night in Afton at the civic center. Bring signs, fliers, and whatever else you may need to wake more citizens up.

Tax day Rally
For those that are interested, there will be a tax day rally in Afton at the civic center in the main foyer area. There are a number of signs that have been posted throughout Star Valley. Tell everyone you can to be there, come and support the local movement to get involved.
